Paras: you will now be given full consideration forĀ coaching positions

October 6, 2017

Last spring, the central administration decided that it wasn’t appropriate for members of our Paraprofessional Unit to be coaches for the district.

The BEU immediately opposed the decision and began advocating for its reversal. And we have continued this advocacy ever since.

Yesterday, we learned that the district has changed its plan.  Paras will once again be considered for coaching positions.
We encourage you to apply.

The BEU also called for the central administration to rescind a requirement that they announced last spring that educators who receive stipends must reapply for the position every year.  In response, they did.  We want to make sure that everyone is aware that if you do work for which there is a stipend, you do not need to reapply for the job you have.

We thank the central administration for reversing the two decisions in response to the BEU advocacy.

In Solidarity,
Jess
