The BEU Negotiation Team and the BSC met for a second time to bargain Unit A proposals. We spent the evening responding to each other’s proposals and no new proposals were exchanged.
The BEU Negotiation Team responded to all of the BSC proposals and had counters to most of them and approved of a few. Accepted were some housekeeping proposals and the BSC’s proposal to change payday from Thursdays to Fridays and extend the pay period from 21 installments to 22 installments if the additional payment would be at the start of the school year.
The BSC only had time to respond to our first three proposals – most were rejected, some additional information was wanted, and a few they agreed to counter. Restricting the class size to 24 students was flatly rejected because the BSC claimed it could “catastrophically” bankrupt the school system. Also, the BSC unequivocally rejected (3d H), adding 4+1 to the contract, which would include 6-12th grade educators.
We are still waiting on a money proposal from the BSC.
Unit A negotiations continue again on February 5th.
